Internship plays a major role in shaping you fit for industry. An Engineer, by the time of pass out, should have industry exposure as well. This helps them sort out where and how the theory, they learned from books, are applied in reality. For professional courses, it should be made mandatory for students to interact and work with professionals to get an insight of real world. From my experience, I would say: Knowledge from books and knowledge from experiences differs a lot, the latter having more impact on your character-building. ~sreejith
